Rocker Bret Michaels has brushed off reports he’s proposed to his longtime girlfriend, insisting they are still a "work in progress".
The Poison frontman has previously credited his on/off girlfriend of 16 years, Kristi Lynn Gibson, with helping him battle a brain haemorrhage and a mild stroke earlier this year (10).
Star magazine reported that Michaels popped the question during the Independence Day (04Jul10) weekend – but now the singer has spoken out about the rumors, insisting he is not yet engaged.
He tells The Early Show, “No. We are not engaged yet. We’re a work in progress.”
And Michaels explained why Gibson wears a ring on her finger, adding: “(It’s) a promise ring… a friendship ring, with benefits. That’s what we call it.”
The couple shares daughters Raine Elizabeth, 10, and Jorja Bleu, five.
