Hollywood movie bosses are banking on Ryan Reynolds’ big screen debut as The Green Lantern becoming a box office smash upon its release next year (11) – plans for a second and third sequel are already in the works.
Comic book fans won’t get to see the actor in action as superhero Hal Jordan until next June (11), but executives are lining up two sequels for 2012 and 2013.
According to industry publication Variety, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix writer Michael Goldenberg has been tapped by Warner Bros. studio bosses to begin work on the Green Lantern 2 script.
The first superhero adventure also stars Blake Lively, Mark Strong and Peter Sarsgaard.
Casting details for the follow-up had yet to be released as WENN went to press.
