A documentary detailing the career of rock band Rush has been named the highlight of the Tribeca Film Festival – the picture scooped the Heineken Audience Award on the closing night of the event.
The New York festival came to a close over the weekend (01-02May10), and on Saturday night (01May10) organisers presented the directors of Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage with the coveted prize, which is voted for by event attendees.
Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn’s film tells the story of the Canadian band interspersed with interviews from celebrity fans including Gene Simmons, Billy Corgan and Jack Black, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
And the directing duo was delighted with the honor: “Receiving the Heineken Audience Award at Tribeca means a lot to us as Rush has always been a band of the people. It was great to see Rush fans and non-fans enjoy the movie together.”
