Kidman & Owen To Play The Hemingways

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman is to play fabled writer Ernest Hemingway’s wife, opposite Clive Owen, in a new James Gandolfini movie.

The Sopranos star has been trying to get the biopic Hemingway & Gellhorn before cameras for years – and now he’ll produce the TV movie for HBO with two of the world’s biggest actors.

Kidman will play Martha Gellhorn, Hemingway’s third wife.

Shooting will start in Northern California next year (11).

According to the Los Angeles Times, Kidman has put her portrayal of British soul star Dusty Springfield on hold so she can make the new movie with Owen, Gandolfini and director Philip Kaufman.

The film isn’t the only all-star biopic about Hemingway in production – Sir Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia and Annette Bening have teamed up to shoot Hemingway & Fuentes.

Garcia Upset With Casting Couch Strip Demand

Andy Garcia

Andy Garcia turned on one top casting agent when she asked him to remove his shirt during an audition.

The Ocean’s Eleven star was left scarred by the experience, and is happy to note the woman who asked him to go topless is no longer in the business.

He tells WENN, “She asked me to take my shirt off and I said, ‘You first!’ And then I walked out.

“It was for one of those silly television shows where they say, ‘We’re looking for someone who’s really well built; will you take your shirt off?’

“She kind of looked at me: ‘How dare you say that to me? I’m the casting director!’ It didn’t go much further than that. I never took my shirt off nor did I get the part.”

Garcia Talked Himself Out Of Playing Pfeiffer’s Husband

Andy Garcia

Movie star Andy Garcia lost the chance to play Michelle Pfeiffer’s husband in 1995 film Dangerous Minds after convincing producers the character was unnecessary.

The character wasn’t in the initial script and he understood why when he was called in to play Pfeiffer’s husband. But, after making his viewpoint clear, Garcia still shot scenes with the actress – only for his character to be edited out of the film.

He tells BlogTalkRadio.com, “They called and said that they wanted to develop a love interest for her (Pfeiffer’s character) in the script. I read the script and said, ‘You don’t really need one… but I’m there for you if you think you need me.’

“They wrote up a whole arc for this relationship and we played it out; I had a great time. We shot the whole relationship and then it was determined later on that it was really unnecessary in the storyline, which is what I said to begin with. But I did cash the cheque!”

Garcia almost had the chance to play Pfeiffer’s husband again in his new movie City Island – her name was on director Raymond De Felitta’s wish list, but he chose Julianna Margulies instead.

Garcia Refused To Watch Daughter’s Stripping Scenes

Andy Garcia, Dominik Garcia-Lorido

Andy Garcia couldn’t bring himself to watch his daughter stripping off and pole dancing on the set of their new movie.

Dominik Garcia-Lorido has hit the headlines as a college student secretly stripping to pay her tuition in new movie City Island, in which the Ocean’s Eleven star plays her father.

But her dad didn’t want to hang around to check out the stunning 26-year-old former ballet dancer’s pole dancing moves.

Garcia-Lorido, who was Miss Golden Globes in 2003, tells WENN, “My father says he wanted to leave the state but he didn’t have to leave. I told him to come to the set but my sister was looking for colleges at the time to attend in Boston so my parents went with her that weekend so it was perfect timing and he couldn’t be there.”

She admits she took pole dancing lessons in Los Angeles for a month before filming started, but she had to shape up for the scenes in which she stripped: “When we went to shoot the movie in New York I didn’t have to shoot those scenes until the end of the month so I was eating pasta every day and I wasn’t in shape anymore.

“I couldn’t remember anything and the night before I shot my scenes we did a rehearsal with another teacher in New York and we choreographed what the director wanted and what positions he wanted me in.

“There was a whole other scene that was cut out of the movie, where I was talking and stripping at the same time – which was weird. I couldn’t do the choreography and the moves to the dialogue.”
