A documentary detailing the career of rock band Rush has been named the highlight of the Tribeca Film Festival – the picture scooped the Heineken Audience Award on the closing night of the event.

The New York festival came to a close over the weekend (01-02May10), and on Saturday night (01May10) organisers presented the directors of Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage with the coveted prize, which is voted for by event attendees.

Love Takes Aim At ‘Obsessed’ Corgan In New Twitter Rant

Courtney Love

Courtney Love has responded angrily to former pal Billy Corgan’s Twitter.com comments about her poor skills as a mum, accusing the "jealous" rocker of obsessing about her estranged daughter.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman blasted Love in a series of tweets on Monday (26Apr10), in which he accused her of living off late husband Kurt Cobain’s fortune and cruelly stated, “Only you could abandon such a beautiful, incredible child who is smarter than u, cooler than u, and better than u,” in reference to her estrangement from daughter Frances Bean Cobain.

The teenager was placed under the temporary guardianship of her paternal grandmother and an aunt in December (09) after a falling out with her mother. A judge later banned Love from contacting her daughter until an upcoming hearing.

Two days after his attack, Love has responded by agreeing with Corgan that her daughter is “smarter and cooler than ANYONE will ever be.” but she takes exception to the rocker’s “obsession” with Cobain.

In a tweet, she writes, “You creep now go away GROSS… I really think its truly creepy how jealous and obsessed (with Frances) he is.”

The Hole singer also takes aim at her former friend’s reputation as some kind of spiritual sage, adding Corgan “coughs up this spiritual s**t like bile and lives none of it.”

Corgan and Love fell out while they were working on songs for her new Hole album Nobody’s Daughter, which was released on Tuesday (27Apr10).

Corgan Blasts Love In Twitter Rant

Rocker Billy Corgan has continued his war of words with former pal Courtney Love on the eve of the release of her comeback album.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman took to his Twitter.com account on Monday (26Apr10) to blast Love, accusing her of living off late husband Kurt Cobain’s fortune and insisting she’s an unfit mum.

Referring to the Hole star’s custody battle over her teenage daughter Frances Bean Cobain, Corgan jeers, “The world is aware of your lack of responsibility, as seen in the gov’t taking away your parental right. Only you could abandon such a beautiful, incredible child who is smarter than u, cooler than u, and better than u. Oops, did I say too much?”

Frances Bean, Love’s daughter with late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, was placed under the temporary guardianship of her paternal grandmother and an aunt in December (09) after a falling out with her mother.

A judge later banned Love from contacting her daughter until an upcoming hearing.

Corgan also criticised Love’s songwriting talents, writing, “If you can’t write your own songs maybe you should just be happy that you fooled someone into doing your work for you.”

Corgan Welcomes ‘Son’ At Smashing Pumpkins Fan-Only Show

Rocker Billy Corgan introduced fans to his ’son’ at an intimate concert in Los Angeles on Saturday (17Apr10).

Corgan and his new-look Smashing Pumpkins performed a free, hour-long set at makeshift venue Space 15 Twenty to mark Record Store Day and the frontman had fans scratching their heads when he introduced them to his masked son, Jason.

The rocker explained, “You may have seen a recent article on me in Rolling Stone that talked about how I’ve been affected by not having children. Well, since then I’ve found out that I do have a child.”

Jason, who was masked to protect his privacy, told Corgan, “You’re the worst dad in the world!”

Corgan made it clear the whole thing was just a joke, but he had children on his mind later in the set when he performed ukelele song Baby, which he dedicated to friends who’d recently given birth to daughters, both named Talulah.

Courtney Love

Rocker Courtney Love has joined the celebrity Jessica Simpson fan club after hanging out with the pop star on Friday night (09Apr10) – insisting she understands why John Mayer called the busty blonde "sexual napalm".

Love Apologises To Corgan In Heartfelt Online Note

Courtney Love

Courtney Love has issued a heartfelt apology online to Billy Corgan in the hope of repairing her fractured relationship with The Smashing Pumpkins rocker.

The Hole star took to Facebook on Tuesday (16Mar10) after Corgan went public with his feelings about Love in recent Spin and Rolling Stone magazine articles.

The rocker told Spin, “After almost 20 years of friendship, I have decided to break all ties to Courtney. I don’t want anything to do with her.”

In another interview with Rolling Stone, he then added, “I have no interest in supporting her in any way, shape or form. You can’t throw enough things down the abyss with a person like that.”

Corgan also blasted Hole’s plans to release new songs he wrote for her, raging “it would be a real big problem” if she went ahead because, “I haven’t given my permission.”

Love initially lashed out at her former friend in the New York Daily News, stating, “Billy is talking out his a**. His people already gave permission.” But now she’s being a little more diplomatic.

Her Facebook apology to Corgan reads, “Dearest Billy: I love you, I love your strong and eternal heart, even love the f**ked up gnarly amazing magnificent bigger-than-god louder-than-love karma of the songs you write and allow me to fly with.

“We have again created beauty from the agony between us, all the buried and unburied anguish, all that is true, that is gold, that is meant to be is within this endless and somehow eternal cycle of Billy & Courtney.

“I hope you will take my sincerest apologies for all the thousand ways I sometimes offend you, because I know you are a king, a prince, and my beautiful noble boy. No one will ever force my hand, nothing will come between the truth of what we are.”

She signs off by referring to herself and Corgan as “Eternal lovers. Eternal fighters. Eternal warriors… I love you and can never thank you enough.Your soul (and you know this).”
