Corey Haim’s mother Judy has dismissed reports of a dispute over the costs from the star’s funeral last month (Mar10), following allegations money donated to fund the service was used to pay her own medical bills.

The former child star passed away in March (10) after suffering an apparent drug overdose at his mum’s Los Angeles home.

Haim’s family members subsequently appealed for financial help when they struggled to raise enough money to have the actor’s body transported back to his native Canada for a memorial service.

Bosses at memorabilia company Startifacts stepped in to help cover the costs, sending Judy Haim a $20,000 cheque and assisting in the sale of Haim’s possessions online to raise the rest of the cash.

However, reports have emerged which suggest Haim’s brother-in-law, Mark Alexander, told Startifacts executives that bosses at a funeral home in Toronto, Canada paid the bill, and the donated cash would be used to help pay for Judy’s ongoing cancer treatment.

Judy has now stepped in to clarify the rumours, telling TMZ.com that the money won’t be used to pay her medical bills – as her treatment costs have already been paid for. She confirms bosses at the funeral home did pay for Haim’s memorial, but insists she used the donated money to reimburse them.

Jerry Brown has released details of an investigation into Haim’s drug use, revealing the Lost Boys star visited physicians across the state in a desperate bid to obtain pills.

Calling Haim, “the poster child for the problem” of “doctor-shopping”, Brown also told reporters the actor often used an alias.

Among the pills on Haim’s drug list, obtained between 2 February (10) and 5 March (10), were Valium, Vicodin and Xanax.

The 38 year old died from an apparent overdose on 10 March (10). An official cause of death has yet to be released.

According to state Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement investigators, Haim’s primary physician acknowledged the actor was addicted to pain medication.

Cindy Guyer admits Haim was “such a mess” and she had to end her romance with the actor when she realized she couldn’t help him anymore.

Guyer reveals she booked her then-boyfriend into California’s Betty Ford Clinic in the hope that Haim would clean himself up, but when he quit rehab after just eight days, she knew the fallen star was doomed.

She tells Life & Style magazine, “We almost knew it was going to happen… He had a devil inside him, and the devil was the drug.”

The model and actress, who got engaged to Haim in 2000 after a whirlwind romance, adds, “He got violent and temperamental. He was doing a lot of drugs.

“I tried my best to help him. It’s very, very sad.”
