Madonna Plans Big Renovations For New York Home

Pop superstar Madonna is planning to give her New York townhouse a major revamp by splashing out $1.7 million on renovations, including her own private gym.

The Material Girl recently purchased a $32 million property in Manhattan’s Upper East Side and she has filed applications with city authorities for building permits to add another floor to the lavish home.

The paperwork details Madonna’s plans to gut the existing bed and bathrooms and create a new master suite on the third floor with a walk in closet, while she wants to have a hair salon and luggage room across the hall, reports the New York Post.

If all goes to plan, the finished product will boast 10 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, complete with a wine cellar and playroom for her son Rocco and adopted kids David and Mercy.

Madonna is also mother to teenage daughter Lourdes.

Coldplay Apologize For Glee Snub

British rockers Coldplay have issued an apology to the makers of Glee for turning down a request to use their music on the program – and they have backtracked by giving producers access to their full catalogue.

Creator Ryan Murphy asked the Yellow hitmakers if he could showcase their songs for a special episode, but the band turned him down.

After the success of a Madonna tribute show in April (10), the rockers have now admitted to Murphy they “were wrong” to have snubbed the opportunity and have offered him full use of their entire music catalogue.

Murphy tells The Hollywood Reporter, “At the beginning a lot of people didn’t know what we were and asked to see pages (in advance), but I refused because I didn’t want to set precedent of them having any involvement. My favorite rejection was Bryan Adams. Coldplay and Bryan Adams were really the only rejections. But Coldplay called a week ago and said, ‘We’re sorry, you can have our catalogue’.”

Perry Plays Down Gaga Blasphemy Remarks

Katy Perry has hit back at reports she has fallen out with Lady Gaga after blasting blasphemous entertainers in a Twitter.com rant.

Perry appeared to be commenting on GaGa’s controversial new Alejandro video last week (08Jun10) when she tweeted, “Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.”

The promo features GaGa, dressed in a latex nuns’ outfit, suggestively swallowing a string of rosary beads. Scenes also show the outrageous star simulating sex with a group of scantily-clad male dancers, wearing only her underwear.

Perry, who is the daughter of church ministers, appeared to be taking aim at her on Twitter.com shortly after the video was released online.

But now the California Gurls singer, who is engaged to controversial comedian Russell Brand, insists she respects GaGa’s point of view, even if she disagrees with her use of religious imagery.

She says, “Lately, I’ve just been seeing some things that are kind of… not something I would do, I guess. Like, you know, when Madonna was on the cross (on her most recent world tour).

“(People say) I’m a very hypocritical person, ‘How do you say that and (sing), I Kissed a Girl? Spirituality and sexuality are two separate things. When you decide to put it into the same subject, it gets interesting for some people.

“Everyone knows… I’ve said 100 times on my Twitter: ‘I’m one of the biggest Lady GaGa and Madonna and Russell Brand fans.’ Some people have different view points.”

GaGa has defended the Alejandro video since its release, calling it “a celebration and an admiration of gay love”.

Madonna Surprises School Children With Visit

Pop superstar Madonna surprised school children in Kent, south-east England on Friday (11Jun10) when she turned up to a charity fundraiser unannounced.

The Material Girl shocked pupils as she arrived at the New School festival in Sevenoaks in a helicopter – as a favour to business tycoon Mohamed Al Fayed.

The Harrods boss, who is patron of the underprivileged children’s centre in the town, invited Madonna onstage, introducing her to the crowd as the “biggest superstar in the world”.

Al Fayed tried to get the singer to perform a duet with him, but she insisted, “I haven’t done my vocal warm-up.”

Ritchie Caught In His Pyjamas With Model

Guy Ritchie has accidentally gone public with his new romance – the director was photographed in his pyjamas bidding farewell to British model Jacqui Ainsley in the street outside his London home.

The director, who split from his ex-wife Madonna in 2008 after almost eight years of marriage, confirmed his romance with the 26-year-old beauty after he was seen kissing her goodbye in front of onlookers outside his house while still dressed in his stripey sleepwear.

A source tells Britain’s Mail On Sunday, “He seemed very happy and very pleased with himself as he said goodbye to the lady. It was well after noon when the two of them appeared, and they seemed to be having a lot of fun together. They both started laughing when they realized they had been caught on camera and that Guy was still in his pyjamas. They seemed very much a couple.”

Ainsley, who appeared in the opening credits of Bond movie Die Another Day and previously dated Scottish singer Darius Campbell, was first linked to Ritchie in April (10).

Paltrow Dismisses Madonna Feud Rumors

Gwyneth Paltrow’s representative has dismissed reports the actress has fallen out with her pal Madonna, amid ongoing rumors the pair’s friendship has ended in a bitter feud.

The longtime friends have been spending more time apart since the pop star left London and moved back to America following her 2008 split from former husband Guy Ritchie.

Speculation about a rift between the pair was recently fuelled when Paltrow admitted she has been experiencing problems with a friend.

She told Britain’s Vogue magazine, “I can be mean. I can cave in to gossip. I can ice people out and I can definitely harbor revenge. In fact, I’m having a situation right now with a friend where I’m feeling angry.”

But a rep for the Iron Man star is adamant Paltrow’s comments were not aimed at Madonna, insisting the pair is still close.

The spokesperson tells GossipCop.com, “(It’s) not true. (They are) still friends,” while a rep for Madonna has also dismissed the stories as “B.S. (bulls**t).”
