Sharon And Kelly Osbourne Battle Anti-Gay Protesters

Sharon and Kelly Osbourne fended off protesters during the Gay Pride Parade in Los Angeles on Sunday (13Jun10) after a group of anti-homosexual campaigners targeted the pair at the event.

The reality TV stars acted as the parade’s Grand Marshals and were travelling through the city on a float when a mob started yelling anti-gay profanities at them.

But Sharon Osbourne fought back – taking to a loud speaker to shout at them, “You should be ashamed of yourselves!”

Rock offspring Kelly then joined her mother by leading the crowd in chanting “My God loves gays!” to drown out the protests.

A source tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “Kelly and Sharon were amazing. They didn’t look intimidated by the protesters for one minute – if anything, it was exactly the opposite, they relished the fight! Sharon got right in their faces admonishing them and Kelly just started shouting into the microphone: ‘My God loves gays!’ The crowd went wild and started chanting, the atmosphere was electric!

“The protesters were obviously defeated and left pretty quickly. As they were leaving everyone was screaming and clapping, it was amazing! Sharon and Kelly are gay icons and they proved why on Sunday – they really are friends to the gay community, and in return we love them.”

Osbourne Helping The Hungry

Sharon Osbourne is helping feed the hungry – the rock matriarch is spearheading a charity’s new campaign to aid U.S. food banks.

The wife of former Black Sabbath star Ozzy is a longterm supporter of the Rock and Wrap It Up! charity and she is backing their new initiative, Win4Hunger, to raise cash to help provide food for those unable to afford it.

Bosses at the organization are asking for a $50 sum – and in return, kind-hearted donors will be entered into a draw to win $1 million towards their dream home.

In a video appeal, Osbourne says, “I’m here to ask for your much needed help. I’ve been a supporter of the Rock and Wrap It Up! charity for many years. With its mission to feed the hungry, they work directly with local food banks every day to bring food to people who are in desperate need. Millions of people have been fed as a result of this charity’s tireless efforts.

“The need to fight hunger in our local communities has never been greater but unfortunately today there are a lot less resources available to combat this growing problem. The charity really needs your financial help.

“Now please join me in donating to this wonderful cause and make a difference in the lives of so many people. With your contribution you can have a chance to win up to $1 million towards the purchase of your dream home.”

Michaels Named Celebrity Apprentice

Rocker Bret Michaels showed he’s the ultimate survivor when he appeared on the live finale of reality TV show The Apprentice on Sunday (23May10) just days after suffering a minor stroke and overcoming a near-fatal brain haemorrhage – and won the big prize.

Michaels had to briefly pull out of the show when he first fell ill in April (10) and underwent an emergency appendectomy – but that was just the beginning of the diabetic rocker’s health nightmare.

On 21 April (10), a severe headache sent him to hospital, where medics diagnosed bleeding on the brain.

For five days, the Poison star fought for his life at a hospital in Arizona, and then, as he was at home recuperating he suffered a mini-stroke.

Last week (ends21May10), he was diagnosed with a hole in the heart.

But, after discharging himself from hospital, he jetted to New York for The Apprentice finale after a final health hiccup – he was forced to make a stop over in Nashville, Tennessee after complaining of “a headache, lower back pain and some cramping in his legs” on the flight.

After medical attention, he reboarded the private jet bound for New York.

The Apprentice host, businessman Donald Trump, had no idea if Michaels would make it to the Big Apple until just hours before the show.

He kicked off the live finale by telling the studio audience and fans at home, “I’m happy to announce Bret Michaels is here with us tonight.”

The rock star and actress Holly Robinson Peete beat out 12 other celebrities, including Sharon Osbourne and Cyndi Lauper, to compete in the finale.

Reigning Celebrity Apprentice winner Joan Rivers, who was a special guest on the finale, admitted she was impressed with Michaels’ spirit. She said, “Bret, you talk about no sick days… (He had) the determination to come back from death’s door. To say, ‘I’m gonna be here and this is where I have to be…’ I find this extraordinary.”

The rocker gingerly hobbled onto the show’s live stage to hugs from his fellow contestants and a standing ovation from the studio audience, and revealed his doctors didn’t want him to be on the show.

He joked, “Lately, it seems that me just standing up is risking my life… It’s been crazy for about a month and a half. I thought I was healthy… It’s been a risk, but I wanted to be here tonight.”

The rocker won $250,000 for his diabetes charity from beverage company Snapple.

Newcomer To Play Ozzy In Memoir Movie

Sharon Osbourne is on the hunt for a newcomer to play her husband Ozzy in a biopic based on his bestselling memoirs I Am Ozzy.

Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp have both been loosely linked to a film about the rock legend, but Ozzy’s manager/wife insists the movie will have to feature “a brand new talent”.

She says, “If you go the Val Kilmer/Doors way, it becomes too Hollywood.”

The news comes two months after Ozzy revealed he’d like Robert Downey, Jr. to play him in the movie.

Meanwhile, Rolling Stone magazine reports the film rights to I Am Ozzy have been sold.

Richie April Fooled Madden & Kardashian With Twitter Attacks

Nicole Richie pulled an April Fools’ prank on fiance Joel Madden and pal Kim Kardashian – by hacking into their Twitter accounts and posting a string of naughty messages.

The socialite took over the Twitter accounts of Madden – the father of her two children – on Thursday (01Apr10), sending tweets to Dolly Parton, Sharon Osbourne, Paula Abdul and Ashley Tisdale.

Richie ensured she would leave her lover red-faced, by telling Osbourne she was “yummy”, asking Abdul if Madden could “smell her armpits”, and tweeting Parton to see if she had any “milk in those jugs”.

And Richie went on to aim her mischievous side at Kardashian, tweeting on the reality star’s blog, “Sometimes I think I’m a lesbian because HOT DAMN Nicole Richie is fine.”

Richie later revealed herself as the culprit – uploading a picture of herself grinning on the top of their Twitter pages.

Osbourne Didn’t Weep For Dad

Ozzy Osbourne’s wife Sharon found it impossible to mourn her father’s death in 2007 – because they endured a turbulent relationship for decades.

The rock matriarch had a troubled union with her dad, Don Arden, who previously managed Ozzy’s band Black Sabbath, and she fell out with him after he fired the singer from the group in 1979.

Sharon didn’t speak to her father for 20 years and refused to let him meet his grandchildren – Aimee, Kelly and Jack – for more than two decades.

The pair began to repair their relationship in 2001, but in 2004 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and passed away three years later.

Osbourne found it impossible to cry after the tragedy – but was thankful they mended their fractured relationship before Arden died.

She says, “I believe I did the right thing by him, in the end. He gave me a lot, really. He gave me a great education in life and the work ethic I have now.

“When he died, I had him sent back to the U.K. to be buried and I sat with his body in the mortuary… but I didn’t cry – I just couldn’t, because I had cried over years and years.”
