Robert Pattinson has confirmed a pinnacle scene in the upcoming Twilight movie was re-shot, so producers could make it "more erotic".
The third film in the vampire franchise, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, sees Pattinson’s character sharing a tent with his love rival, played by Taylor Lautner, while the object of the pair’s affection, Kristen Stewart, sleeps between them.
After filming the clip, producers asked the actors to shoot the scene again in order to make the movie moment more sensual.
Pattinson reveals, “I saw an earlier cut, and I liked what happened in the tent scene when I saw it but we re-shot it, so I’m not sure what the new one is like. So maybe on the DVD you’ll have the old tent scene… Just the staging was different. I think they tried to make it more erotic.”
But the actor struggled to film the significant scene because he felt “nervous” in the confined space.
He says, “I think it had to do with claustrophobia, because we were actually shooting in a tent and I just couldn’t get it together. I kept forgetting my lines and getting so nervous…
“We did three takes and Kristen, who was supposed to be asleep, saw I was freaking out. Halfway through the take she opened her eyes. She kept staring at me and kept trying to make me laugh through the entire take…”
